NP: Flat(not Line)land

Flatland is a subset of 3D space. The beings of Flatland (Flatlanders) perceive only horizontal lines of zero height, with depth implied by shading (as it is to a one-eyed man). The very concept of a third dimension is heresy. Flatlanders are classed by the number of points of their polygonal shapes, by the way, with circles being the priest cast. One night, a sphere descends to the plane of Flatland, our our hero squares house, first appearing, by its intersection, as a point, and then as a circle of increasing size. It is, of course, able to leave that plane and then touch down in another location on the plane. The square becomes enlightened by the sphere, in part by being shown a land that is a subset of his 2D space... yes, you may have guessed it, Lineland.
It wouldn't take much to make the animated movie an OK visualization of the book, so I'm hoping that Martin Sheen didn't take the role of the square just a favor to someone else involved in the project.
