Hoo hah. Maybe somebody's leaning a bit too hard on E's oft-quoted remark
about the 1919 test of general relativity: "...asked what his reaction would
have been if the experiment had showed his theory to be wrong, [he] serenely
replied, 'Then I would have been sorry for the dear Lord; the theory is
correct.' "

That was post-smackdown trash talk, and he knew it. For all its beauty and
coherence, the theory would have died a quick death without confirmation.
