...juxtaposes the political tragedy of a man fighting injustice against the
story of a Disney-like filmmaker
at least the movie does, haven't read the book...

I walked out of the theater saying, "moral there is easy: look on the bright side"
There's a similar contrast in AtD: Webb loses everything acting out his
indignation with injustice, while Merle - though not spared heartbreak -
at least has a lot of enjoyment from his photography (scopophilia can
be an end in itself)
