Pynchon and baseball

I liked Coover's 'The Universal Baseball Association' a lot, so I thought if 
I learned the rules and would watch the best American teams playing I would 
like the game as well. No such luck.

P.S. And of course, the gorgeous beginning of 'Underworld'.
