That Underworld beginning was masterful - enough to have this
non-American baseball ignoramus truly enthused by the game. Pity about
the dull stuff that made up most of the rest of the novel.

I liked Coover's 'The Universal Baseball Association' a lot, so I
thought if I learned the rules and would watch the best American teams
playing I would like the game as well. No such luck.
P.S. And of course, the gorgeous beginning of 'Underworld'.
