Bret Easton Ellis Survey

I did my undergraduate dissertation on Bret Easton Ellis. He was my
favourite author before I discovered Thomas Pynchon and others. I still
like his books now though having studied them closely for well over a
year I haven't picked one up since June 2006.

I've read all of his books and I think Less Than Zero and American
Psycho are the strongest examples of his work with Lunar Park being just
as good but more conventional and genre-related and therefore atypical.
The Rules of Attraction is the only book of his that didn't really work
for me.

He's a very serious writer though his books have plenty of bleak humour
in them. That's probably the most I can say without going into a
critical analysis and/or spoiling them for you.

Hope it helps,

Guy

Subject: Bret Easton Ellis Survey

Hello all, I was wondering how Pynchon fans react to this author. My
impression is that he is enjoyed by young, and perhaps periodic readers,
and sort of derided by self-fashioned serious readers. I have never
read anything by him. Could you please tell me

1. Yes or No, whether you like him

2. What books of his you have read, either way

3. Any other comments you may have regarding the subject

Thank you so much in advance!
