Believe it or not, running across that portrait was the highlight of
my first trip to New York. The Frick was the second last of the 15
museums I hit in 10 days (plus a dozen films, plus ...), an
afterthought on a Friday afternoon. I had no idea it (OR that Hans
Holbein the Younger Thomas More, or that Renoir with the woman with
the muff and the little girl, or ...). I burst out laughing when I
looked up after walking through the nearby doorway, and later bought
every copy of the postcard they had out ...
