Due to the 1974 remake, this film has not been seen in
more than 30 years. Disregarding the costumes and hair
styles, this is a far superior version of F. Scott
Fitzgerald’s celebrated novel! Despite its length, it
gives many more details of the novel. And gives you a
much better insight into Gatsby’s character and his
great obsession with Daisy. Field’s Daisy is much
closer to the wistful character of the book. Great
production values and stunning cinematography truly
bring the book to life. Howard da Silva, who plays the
garage owner, also had a part in the 1974 remake. FREE
