German translators of AtD

It is not that easy for me to understand the spoken German, especially on 
the radio, so if there are some German colleagues who might take the trouble 
to offer a brief summary of this conversation I, and, I hope, many other 
P-listers who are interested in the international repercussions of AtD, will 
be very grateful.

I am not sure about my comprehension, but it seems that Stingl says that the 
German manuscript of AtD will be approximately 2060 pages long.

'It is always a big event when a new Thomas Pynchon book appears in the 
market. He has worked for ten years at 'Against the Day'. Now the book 
clocking in at 1085 pages in English is in stores.

It will appear in German only in the Spring of 2008. The work on translation 
is shared by Nikolaus Stingl and Dirk van Gunsteren. What were Stingl's 
thoughts, when he had the manuscript on his table?'

Es ist immer ein Ereignis, wenn ein neues Buch von Thomas Pynchon auf den 
Markt kommt. Zehn Jahre hat er an «Against the Day» gearbeitet. Nun liegt 
das 1085 Seiten umfassende Buch auf Englisch in den Läden.

Doch erst im Frühjahr 2008 wird es auf deutsch erscheinen. Die 
Übersetzungsarbeit teilen sich Nikolaus Stingl und Dirk van Gunsteren. Was 
dachte Stingl, als er das Manuskript auf dem Tisch hatte?
