Aw: German translators of AtD

yes, that's right. Stingl said the german translation will be approximately 2060 pages long. The translation must be ready autumn 2007, and that would be too much for one person. So, Dirk van Gunsteren, who was responsible for the translation of "vineland", will work together with Stingl, but it is still unclear, how they will  divide their task. ( a reminder: GR was also a result of a teamwork translated by two persons, one of them the nobelpricewinner Elfriede Jelinek)
Furthermore: Stingl mentions that in contrast to many critics, he was not suprised, because in the case of Pynchon he was aware of everything; now he is familiar with AtD, he loves the last sentence, because he takes a religious turn - and the greatest task: the sometimes antiquated manner of the words and sentences. Once - friends responded to him during the translation of M&D, - in private conversations he himself was talking in an antiquated manner.
poor boy - sometimes i work as a journalist for a german broadcast station and i think i must catch that man for an interview and listen in which manner he will answer. but 2060 pages? No exxageration, compared with the translation of GR od M&D? I doubt a little bit, but Stingl is the best man available.
