CD sales dive into toilet, end of musical civilization

Sad to say, but the article's right. Our store used to have a 
"Local Artists"section full of the most gawdaful "music" issues
you've ever encountered, obviously made on home P.C.'s with
paper labels pasted over the CDR labels, graphic design
from the land of the blind and no sales. Go to some indy CD/LP
outlet some time, and note the general quality of the
home/studio stuff produced by local bands.
