Yes, a small library's worth of books of Pynchon
criticism is available, but there's no need to rip off
somebody's intellectual property, especially not some
struggling Pynchon scholar's.

I suggest that if you can't afford to buy books, or if
you choose to spend your money on other stuff instead
of on the Pynchon criticism you say you enjoy, go to
the library and ask a librarian to help you get the
books you need, through inter-library loan if
necessary.

Your high school or college librarian will be able to
explain how this works. This is how people shared
lots of information, books, etc., before there was an
internet, by the way.

Somehow, no matter how loose, hip, or cool Pynchon
seems to those of us who love his writing, I think he
might agree that it's a good idea not to steal books,
but instead to buy them or read a copy that the
library bought and thus let the authors enjoy some
fruits of their labor. I don't know that for a fact,
of course, but since he writes for a living and seems
to be doing all right on royalties and advance fees, I
suspect he may have a different concept of the value
of intellectual property than the average Internet
pirate. Maybe not, but I haven't seen a label yet on
any of his books that says "Steal this Book" and he
seems to guard his intellectual property, as he guards
his privacy, rather zealously.

Your mileage will vary, I'm sure, and I'm not
interested in continuing this thread with the person
who started it, or with anybody else. Just My 2 Cents,
that's all. You guys can take it from here.
