Right intro song; wrong instrumentation.
It should clearly be performed by an all-harmonica band with solos taken up by kazoo. The synthesized rendition doesn't do credit to the intent, IMO.

Trailer for GR
Black. Music fading in: "Joy" by Apollo 100 ...
http://lp2cd.com/time/70/70004.htm
Texts fades in: "A screaming comes across the sky
...." Suddenly, images: an explosion, followed by, in
no paticular order, soldiers cavorting in a greenhouse
full of bananas, a pinne map of London, a giant
octopus, a nymphet, an orgy, a dodo hunt, Puritans, a
rocket man and/or a pig hero, a V2 test site, a light
bulb on the move, cartoon dwarves riding cartoon
vultures morphing into divebombing Stukas (cf. p.
664), you name it, and then ...
Music changes: "God's Children" by The Kinks ...
http://kinks.it.rit.edu/discography/showsong.php?song=124
More images: a bespectacled eye reflecting a windmill
(cf. p. 670), a moon colony morphs into the Apollo
landing (cf. p. 723), a launch countdown, kabbalistic
iamgery, and so forth, a hand reaches into a stream,
retrieving a harmonica, pan across a crowded theater,
fading to white ...
Text: "Now everybody--"
Fade to black. Text: "from the novel by Thomas
Pynchon ..." and so forth ...
