But this is all predicated by the sentence at the top of the page,
"... he entered, all too briefly, a condition he had no memory of
having sought, which he later came to think of as grace."
Dally also experiences this phenomenon of grace (pg 70) and she is
later "misdirected. " But that's a connection forward at this point
and thus for another chapter.
