           I agree with Robin and Tore, and have suggested 
           some circumstantial evidence for why AtD has been 
           worked on since, maybe, the sixties. That it is one in 
           the Donadio letter master plan.

           Wasn't Lot 49, which TRP considers a story, done 
           outside of that plan when he needed some dough 
           and Esquire offered him some?

Yes, I think you're right. It seems as though Oedipa Maas, a product of
a middle-class euducation, living a middle-class life stumbles into this
realm of rebellion and resistance witnessed through postal anomalies
found in the collection of an egregiously rich man. Oedipa is looking into
the realm of AtD via Pierce Inverarity's stamp collection.
