And here's yet another take: "Deuce" is what a tennis referee calls out 
towards the end of a game, when a player has won an equalizing point, thus 
cancelling out the opponent's "advantage." One can almost hear a sort of 
Cosmic Tennis Referee in AtD, calling out "Advantage: The Plutes" after 
Webb's murder. By killing Deuce, then, the Traverse brothers hope to equal 
things out, causing this Cosmic Referee to call out "Deuce." The sad irony, 
of course, is that this balancing out of the score in tennis doesn't settle 
the score, as it were. Rather, it is an invitation to keep on playing until 
one side has gained the upper hand, just as the Traverses' intended murder 
of Deuce would be an invitation to keep on killing. At any rate, when I hear 
the name Deuce, I hear the thock of tennis balls and the implied invitation 
to keep on firing off one kind of missile or another, right to the sorry 
end.
