been mulling over that comment in GR about men freely loving in the
trenches. is this necessarilly a homosexual subtext or the natural human
reaction to blind fear, taking comfort in the arms of another, not in a
sexual way at all. soldiers bond in a very strong way after confronting
primal fears, right? contrast these feelings with other negative remarks in
GR re: high class faggotry and such. of course, the sassoons and owens do
come to mind. but Sassoon's homosexuality I think did not have the effect
people may assume with regards to feelings towards his men.

I think the homoeroticism is very much more appealing in AtD than in GR. If
I'm not mistaken Cyprian carries Reef's sperm in his mouth and implanting in
Yashmeen's womb. I thought that was a clever riff (or reef if you're french)
on Frenesi's comment about her connection as a vessel b/w Weed and Vond. not
forgetting the Lake Deuce Sloat threesome either.
