Why are Deuce and Sloat eating a firecracker in one unclear photo?

And that ceremonial pose in the hyperclear "crazed radiance" shot?.....
"Emulsion of an earlier day"...."Something authentically
ghostly" [with TRP we have to think of the line that "photography
steals one's soul, as many natural societies believed when seeing a
picture for the first time]......."emulsions acting as
agents'.....why that description?....agents, double meanings, double
"agents" like Deuce and Sloat themselves? Like S. Vibe's agents?
The emulsions are living photographick agents, capturing the
demonic spirit (ghost) in the eyes (serving as windows to the
[crazed radiant] murderous souls) of these two killers.
"And maybe his and Dally's long road out of here was not the
result of any idle drift, but more of a secret imperative,
like the force of gravity, from all the silver he'd been
developing out into the pictures he'd been taking over these
years---as if silver were alive, with a soul and a voice,
and he'd been working for it as much as it for him." [80:6-11]

p. 301 Dally "like a small explosion" verbally pushes Frank to leave
town.
That Dally, she's a real firecracker.
She and Merle want to help him escape, that is care about him,
because his dad saved her life once or twice?
Plus, Webb was instrumental in turning Merle onto the job at
Little Hellkite [pp. 78-9].
------------------------------------------
p. 301-302 Frank escapes with Dally thru a previously invisible trap
door and secret underground tunnel swung them high over the valley
and the lights of the town. "To Hell you ride!"
"[I]t was beginning to feel like being in a skip that had
just slipped its cable, heading for the center of the earth"
[271:14-15]
