maybe not intended by Pynchon or just a serendipitous convergence for us
Pyn-heads  but the idea of the quaternions view of the 'w' term representing
time as a scalar quantity (only + or -) leads one to equate our current
president's view of the world as black/white, the law of excluded middles,
usw...
