Atdtda[4]: 103.22 Kit's Clarity of Desire

Kit's deal with Walker/Vibe is carried out in several phases:

- the initial offer made by Fowley, "this deputy of Wealth" (99.36), 
resulting in unbelieve on Kit's site.  The offer is made with a phrase 
Kit would use for seducing a girl ("Kind of line you used on girls", 
99.38), hence I think it is more of a seduction.  Only one side of the 
deal is shown: becoming part of the Lieutenants of Industry Scholarship 
Program.

- Foley's story, and Kit is now impressed, but not yet completely convinced.

- Tesla's intervention (I think unknowingly. he just acknowledges 
Fowley's authority) and a bank account with a few hundred dollars.

- On returning from the bank, the other side of the deal is shown: 
paying off debts, but also, another act of seduction: "Think of it as 
paid conscription." (103.30) Fowley's pointing out that he and Kit make 
the same arrangement -- contradicting the earlier "I am he".  It is a 
'you and me babe, how about it?' (© Romeo and Juliet, Dire Straits)

What is in the contract -note the 'too', below?
"After I finish college I come work for mister Vibe till the debt's paid 
off, that right?"
"Right, and if you will sign this one here too --just a standard release 
..." (103.28-30)

So eager: "Kit was assaulted all at once by a yearning, or that's how 
he'd think of it later --*a clarity of desire*-- to belong to that band 
of adventurers into the Æther and its mysteries, to become, por vida, 
one of Doc Tesla's boys." (103.21-23)

And don't forget, Kit's only 17. (Could he sign a legally binding 
contract at the time? - just curious)
