P. 103:
"[Kit:] 'After I finish college I come to work for Mr. Vibe till the debt's paid off, that right?'" [and following]

This harkens back to p. 87:

"'Every time a stick goes off in the service of the owners, a blast convertible at the end of some chain of accountancy to dollar sums no miner ever saw, there will have to be a corresponding entry on the other side of God's ledger, convertible to human freedom no owner is willing to grant.'"

The p. 103 passage seems to be the flip side, somehow, of the dynamite equation. Kit's making a devil's bargain with Vibe: education (and entry into the owners' camp) in exchange for his father's life.
