This and not any temporary lull in the action is
what's REALLY of note here.  While I've had my cranky
moments, I know, the new novel has seemingly brought
with it a certain civilitity heretofore unknown for
such stretches @ the List.  It's also why I value the
"small talk" around here, the (seemingly, but often
recuperable) off-topic chit-chat that helps reaffirm
us as actual, offlist, offline people worth attention,
consideration and respect.  And then there's the
info/edutainment value ...

That being said, I do miss Terrance, and even worry
about Robert, among many, manyothers, but i mention
them in particular as people with whom i've certainly
had my, uh, disagreements, to say the least, but who
certainly do put in the work, who do the reading ...
