            Keith:
Considering just how many allusions to the kitchen sink
emerge in the pages of Against the Day, I would have
to venture that most passages through the novel have
readings other than any particular reading.

See, I'm looking at what's about to happen in about 5 pages or so, and the way
that explosive interaction---the potential fusing of Lew Baslight's illuminated
gift as Detective Extraordinaire and Nicholas Nookshaft's well known
post-theosophical spiritual acomplishments and influence, purely and
transcendently in the most occult of spheres---changes my entire point of view
as regards all of Pynchon's books. Seriously. Suddenly, all the dominos fall
over in a neat little line.

            Keith:
The fun of a group read is seeing what is evoked in the
minds of this motley crew of readers.

I think you forgot the umlauts.

(BTW, my reading of the Jeshimon passage is impurely Christian.)

There's plenty that's Satanic, alright---you wanna read Satanic as inverted
Christian, get no lip from this quarter. 'Course, if you spend your time hangin'
upside down, well---I suppose that's what Christianity would look like after a
while, eh? Ya know, the collective p.o.v.s of Yogi's, stoners, Leftists,
Anarchists, Quabalists---you know, the sort of people who populate Against the
Day?
