Considering just how many allusions to the kitchen sink emerge in the  
pages of Against the Day, I would have to venture that most passages  
through the novel have readings other than any particular reading.  
The fun of a group read is seeing what is evoked in the minds of this  
motley crew of readers.

(BTW, my reading of the Jeshimon passage is impurely Christian.)
