NP: House of Meetings by Martin Amis

I've read parts of The Gulag but only barely heard of Shalamov - 
maybe one time in passing.   I'll have to look into that,  thanks. 
I did read in one  review that said Amis has been criticized for 
thinking he can "imagine" the reality of Russian labor camps.   I 
guess his non-fiction on the subject was seriously panned.
