Nice. 
They're a clear moment when the west expanded, and for Americans of that
time it was known that this was a giant relatively low populated land. The
Indians did not survive our pest. So many things _could_ have happened, but
with the switches we can count back in time, trace the progress and trade,
and find that even we, the readers alternately take succor in and fight
wars for the resources that dwindle, and then we watch it again in movie,
and read it in fiction. It is very special that we are allowed into a
vision of religion as overcoming time. and I think that it really does seem
like we are talking about fear. Fear is man's strongest emotion and to
prevent our own death is one of our loudest untold wants.  Those who have
perished before us, if only we could be there again with them. To turn back
the hands of the clock, but would it be towards or against the day we
remember from our own true past? Leaving us where? Home.

  Ah, words on fear come from an arms merchant...self-interested speaker or
a man who knows by experience?
   
  p.558 "weapon based on Time".....remember that stuff earlier seemingly
about religion trying to overcome Time....taking us into "the pulselessness
of salvation" as stated here?.....
   
  We live in Time and Time..speeded up...is a weapon?   
   
  Since we have left a time of natural rhythms, since the speeding up of
time in human History has been accelerating since   ?????
   
  notice the weapon is "a deployment of light"..."clutter of angles".....
