First of all---Happy Thanksgiging [giggling?] to All
readers ev'rywhere and with a soul in every stoned. . . .
To Mr. Haney, thanks for your interest.
Something to consider about our favorite author ['OFA', pronounced 'OFAY']
"What's that Aroma?" Dixon blurts, knowing quite well, from the
Cape, what it is."
"Ah, the new Harvest. . . ."
THERE'S PARANOIA, AND THEN THERE'S PARANOIA.
"I have no Idea what You're Talking about,
I'm fucked up on cornbread."
Kevin Neelon, 'Weeds"
AND, IF YOU WANT TO RECONSIDER VINELAND [I WOULD
GATHER THAT VINELAND IS THE MOST], ahem. . . .the
most autobiographical of the novels simply because it is the
closest to the author's time, place and memory and also
because it is the funniest---Satirical targets have a sell-by
date stamped on them, don't you know?---but also because
of some rather serious paranoias, well documented ones at
that, that make up the spine of this rather Simpsonian work.

There is a certain quantity of Apocrypha [Monte Hall doubtless
would call it 'Apocrapha'] deliriously detailing examples of the
intersection of Thomas Ruggles Pynchon the 23ed and
Marijuana---not those fictional fables of the quasi-autobio-
graphical characters, like Tyrone, Or Zoyd, or Kit, but those
glimpses of OBA/OFA [and yes, the whole Honkies in
Blackland---Franz Ferdinand anyone?---thread is a biggie
in Pynchonland and we'll probably find some Pynchon &
Company involvement in well established money-making
enterprises found in all coners of the globe] 'holding the bag'. . . .

. . . .and as some of you already know from personal experience,
paranoia is one of the better known contraindications for this
remarkably effective and non-toxic medicine, on display pretty
much throughout the text we are now observing under the
magnifying monocule.
I mean, I'm just sayin' . . . .
Oh, by the way, all you unregenerate carnivores, enjoy your
L-Tryptophan buzz and try not to overdose. Unlike weed,
there is a potentially lethal dose of L-Tryp.
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A lot of people are going to feel
pretty tired after stuffing themselves today. But experts
say the turkey isn't solely to blame.
There is an amino acid in turkey that induces sleepiness
but experts say the real bottom line is that people get
tired because they eat too much, drink too much and
don't get enough sleep.
Dr. Carol Ash of Somerset Medical Center's Sleep for Life
Center in Hillsborough, New Jersey, says the amino acid,
tryptophan (TRIP'-toh-fan), produces the brain chemical
serotonin, which promotes calm and sleepiness. But as
part of a big dinner, the tryptophan has a hard time
reaching the brain.
Even if it does, Ash says diners would have to consume
several turkeys for the tryptophan to have an effect.
