Groaners

              Is there a word for multi-word puns?  Does anyone 
              know of a list of Pynchon groaners?  I guess my 
              fave TRP groaner is the GR "For DeMille, young 
              fur-henchmen can't be rowing." 

Don't know if there is, myself, but am fond of the Marquise de Sod's 
"A lawn savant who'll lop a tree" from Vineland, which just naturally 
flows into:

              "How much do you know of La Mayonnaise?" she inquired.
              He shrugged, "Maybe up to the part that goes 'Aux armes, 
              citoyens'—"
