I hope TRP is NOT a fan of Sonic Yute. I've been listening to
noise/avant-garde music, self-styled or otherwise, most of my life; I've
heard SY live (Wash. DC's 9:30 club), and I wasn't, and I'm not, impressed.
To me, they're the "Lost in Translation" of music, i.e. they impress the
hell out of people who haven't heard their betters, and who think that they
now have an appreciation of indie art. A-and I don't think they're fun,
either! Naked, naked, naked!

Cool article, thanks.
I saw them play Daydream Nation a few weeks ago in London.
Do you get the impression that Pynchon might really be a fan or that the
author is being sarcastic to some extent? I only ask because while I can
see all the others on the list might plausibly be involved, I find it
hard to believe that Posh Spice would be into music at all, let alone
Sonic Youth.
Her own "musical" "career" provides further evidence for this.

PS. I hope it's true.
PPS. Just noticed your e-mail address, Dave. Very cool.
