We're all just learning how TRP ties his shoes or wipes his brow, so to speak.
  There is SO MUCH to say that it should not be intimidating. 
   
  Reading Pynchon and commenting is like painting a picture not like doing esoteric sums.
  (I sometimes post under the fantasy that I am, like Zak Smith, who is a real artist, painting
  a picture of each page I comment on).
   
  When I entered the p-list, I do not want to admit what Pynchon I had not read THEN.
  But, it is a "progressive knotting into". 
   
  And, yes, we need different perspectives and illumination from other reading, otherwise we
  are just doing very inadequate Cliff's notes.
   
  This book will be talked and written about until we are history, and we have gotten to comment on it with intelligence and interest early.
