Have you any evidence that this David Pynchon is any more related to
TRP than my pugs are to each other?

And do you assume that there was only one Pynchon colonist way back
then, or that David Pynchon's ancestors didn't immigrate to the US in
the previous generation?

If you don't know the answers to these questions I think "random" is
an apt description.
