from the outside looking in at alchemy that's how it appears.  but, no.  alchemy is primarily a subjective engagement.  to do with turning all our blithering into poetry, prayer, music, song....  so, yes, i think P is pointing to the flaw (again) we westerners so quickly and happily fall into, the old trap of defining the interior by the exterior correlates....
