Sinclair (a name rich in possibilities for the obsessive punster) is apparently a distant relative of the Sinclair who was a shaker and mover in the Templar order around the time of its disintegration, and the builder of Rosslyn, a code in stone if The Sword and the Grail is to be believed. The book contains an interesting theory that the order went to America and built outposts there.

Believed or nor, it's a fascinating detailed read. 

Given the Catholic Church's eager desire to right the many wrongs of it's troubled past, I hope Sinclair gets regular royalty payments.
