and I, for one, appreciate it.

I had daydreams about being a police/fire dispatcher for awhile,
I figured that I would be good because I do have fairly good clerical skill
(clerical as in office; clerical as in pastoral care-liturgical
expertise not so much, perhaps...)

Company clerk a la pfc Wintergreen in Catch-22 would be an awesome power...

I myself am now working as a NOC Technician with a telco that is feeling a major
pinch since so many people are disconnecting their home lines to go cellular
and/or cable. There is change in the wind: major downsizing and packages
[hee-hee] about to be offered, maybe I will be offered one - which
would be bitterswet,
because I love my job. Might even decide not to accept it and to trust that
the value I add will be valued.

Anyway, I found Coetzee's _Master[bator hee-hee, a one-off giggle on
my part since it's a joke that was begging to be made (-: even if I'm
not the first]
of Petersburg_ and Dostoevskii's _The Possessed_ in the library today and
borrowed both to look through. I didn't know if all the host slots are filled,
but I wanted to be able to follow along.

FYI, Zoyd Wheeler is the protagonist of _Vineland_ and in one early
scene does guzzle some Corona. It is my favorite book, and the
"lighting effects" implications of Zoyd opening a Corona and
beaming at his daughter and her boyfriend are not lost on me,
largely thanks to various comments I've read
over the years I've been following this list.

As far as choosing the exact word to link the concept of
the topic of this list
with the concept of
the behavior of Usain Bolt in Mexico City,
I'm at an impasse. Perhaps the cup of coffee I just brewed
(Yuban - now 30% fair trade, though I don't know if by weight or volume)
will help. Will let you know if it does.

It is interesting to think of Pynchon (aka OBA - "Our Beloved Author")
living in Mexico City as a young man. I think an acquainteship with Mexican
culture is worth acquiring. Has anyone read that Bolano book?
I also took it out of the library.
