Cool to see the community gathering in advance of Pynchon's new novel.

Thanks to Dave Monroe and to Tim Ware - respectively, I think - for that detail about the auto miniature photography for the cover illo and news that Mr P himself has been involved in the design of this one-off creation that exists only digitally - sounds par for the course.

Since I heard his next book revisits the 1960s, I recently went back to McLuhan and finally read The Gutenberg Galaxy. Highly recommended, the Pynchon bell was ringing on just about every page. I'd' be surprised if he wasn't aware of this book when it was first published, but who knows? McLuhan was dealing with many of the same big ideas that seem to fascinate Pynchon. Maybe I'll get around to posting something that seemed to me to shed some light on that mysterious passage in GR, after Slothrop's journey down the toilet, about one of everything.

I hope this message comes through in plain text, that's my intent. There are some people who LISTEN to the P-list because they can't visually read it, and I know that all the gunk makes it difficult if not impossible for them to participate in the discussion when it's clogged with rich text formatting.
