my pedestrian take: the 60s were from 1961 thru 1970;
the biggest single engine of positive social change was the civil
rights movement;
a great deal of that happened in the early 60s, and
to cop a phrase from Allan Sherman, hippies weren't a pimple on its ass


vis a vis the forthcoming book, of course, other interpretations can
be valid and valuable.
