Bush Sr. gets mentioned later in the novel, and Bush Jr. gets
lambasted in various ways in "Against the Day", but 1984 was 24 years
ago and back then "W" was busy screwing up various oil companies and
George senior was Reagan's veep. Prescott Bush had serious involvement
with I.G. Farben, notably name-checked in Gravity's Rainbow and I
seriously wonder how much Pynchon knew of Prescott back in the late
60's, early 70's. But I really doubt there's a connection with "G.
Dubya", though I have to admit that "Z Dubya" is an eerie echo.
