Neville and Nigel are back.....
Which leads me to a discussion question.....please weigh in....why are these doubles, see Renfrew/Werner all so like each other?....yes, because they are doubles of each other....BUT are they therefore almost identical in their essence---whatever that is?....Twin-like?........
 
How are these doubles related to Iceland Spar?.....is Iceland Spar doubling a meaningful difference?
OR is most of the meaning of doubling, Icelandic Sparriing [this is the trickiest part of the geeneralization, if it works]  Neville/Nigel, Renfrew/Werner like Tweedle 
Dee and Tweedle Dum in Alice in W...a doubling that makes no, shall we say, metaphysical, difference?  
 
A-and is doubling related to looking in mirrors in AtD/TRP?....(notice Neville does here....why does TRP insert that here?...)

Neuropathy is usually short for peripheral neuropathy, meaning a disease of the peripheral nerve or nerves.

Re: erotic neuropathy...seems to mean, by analogue, a disease of the sex nerves/organs--where the nerves are. 
P-wiki alludes to 'dark and shiny' bar of chocolate in Orwell, but that does not seem correct, right?...more like a policeman's stick..
(what is also known about dark and shiny to chimpanzees?...is this what makes chocolate the right answer?

Misc.....in searching, I found something ikmmensely fascinating for Pynchon paranoids...... 
in a 1908 Psychiatry textbook, one which also gives us Paranoia Querala (which I believe is in AtD somewhere)
the authors 'distinguish" 
      1) an erotic paranoia character
      2) simple erotic paranoia
      3) erotic paranoia with delirium of persecution
      4) erotic paranoia thru contrast.
Reminded of Slothrop?....Anyone else?.....a whole Pynchonian atmosphere?.....(I am)
