I've got this lovely little pendant from the Unicorn of Cerridwen. Who's
Cerridwen? I hear you cry, and why should I give a rat's ass? Good points, one
and all. Cerridwen is an Irish Goddess assiciated with all kinda magical
aspects, most notably wisdom, like the the Hebrew Goddess Sophia.
Cerridwen's the keeper of the cauldron of wisdom, let us bow before the
source of all that is silver-tongued:

As regards that rat's ass question, Cerridwen is associated with the pig, Tommy
boy's favorite farm animal:

          The Cauldron of Knowledge:
Cerridwen's magical cauldron held a potion that granted knowledge
and inspiration -- however, it had to be brewed for a year and a day
to reach its potency. Because of her wisdom, Cerridwen is often
granted the status of Crone, which in turn equates her with the
darker aspect of the Triple Goddess.

As a goddess of the Underworld, Cerridwen is often symbolized by a
white sow, which represents both her fecundity and fertility and her
strength as a mother. She is both the Mother and the Crone; many
modern Pagans honor Cerridwen for her close association to the
          full moon.

In the process of looking up Cerridwen I stumbled into this wonderful review of
Against the Day:

. . . .For me the most fun part of the book was the
Yashmeen-Reef-Cyprian menage. I enjoyed the frank
exploration of sexuality and its part in pushing people
toward spiritual revelation. The climax of that story I
found to be quite moving, but again, due to the speed
with which I was reading it and trying to balance it all
with the Yuletide festivities surrounding me, I feel I
missed something. Still, I identified a great deal with
Cyprian's story and his realization of falling out of the
relationship with the other two. . . .

I didn't sense Cyprian feeling the loss of Yashmeen & Reef as much as
Yashmeen & Reef feel the loss of Cyprian. It was the sense of Cyprian's
spiritual Gnosis/Terror that was resonating which brings us back to. . . .
