TRP unfilmable?

I'm going to throw a humorous 'for-discussion-maybe" spanner into the back-and-forth on
  Pynchon's 'unfilmable' novels-----------------

Debate Question: Will Thomas Pynchon's novels be forever unfilmable because he will
  never option the rights?....

I wouldn't know, I haven't read Vineland. As for the others, well they're not exactly unfilmable. I'm just saying that you can't hold on to the quality, so it could end up being a very long and boring movie.

Like I've sald elsewhere, Vineland would make it as a
series of "Simpsons" episodes.

What------ever. Vineland drops some of TRP's best jokes, it's got scads of TV
references---we need to get it on the Tube, where It really belongs.

They won't use watery dissolves into the halycon times, hopefully they'll
have enough sense to just flash on the old Movieola through which
Prarie is viewing her Mother's past .

AtD will doubtless make a fine 32 hour film someday.

I'm re-reading Vineland at the moment and I'd love to see someone attempt a film version of it. I think it's not only the most filmable of all his books (though I haven't read AtD yet) but also actively lends itself to such a project. Almost a-as if Pynchon intended it to be a primer for the screen
?

So long as they didn't resort water-y dissolving flashback techniques every time Prairie gets told more about her mother, it could really work.

I don't know how the Thanatoids'd be portrayed but it'd be brilliant to see Frenesi's 24fps footage of PR3 in action J
