Sorry if this has been sent prior - I checked the archives but may
have missed it. (It is similar, same author, as one listed on the

The Hungarian scholar Alexander Csoma de Köros, writing in 1833,
provided the first geographic account of "a fabulous country in the
north...situated between 45' and 50' north latitude".

Sounds like somewhere east of Wulumuqi (Üruüqui) -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ürümqi
or
Google maps with the name "Wulumuqi" (China)
Bogda Peak is just east of Üruüqui, in Tibet.

Odessa - see Wulumuqi, China (look that up in Google maps! - it's
there with that name) or in Wiki under Urumqui
Anyway, this means that a balloon in the east could be nicely visible
for awhile after dark - if the weather is clear and the balloon is
high enough up (although it might look like a jumbo Venus after
awhile - but okay - the Chums apparently have a big and very
colorful ship which can ascend pretty high). But the balloon
doesn't have get high up as it would have to in Chicago or
somewhere, because Shambhala is at the 45º - 50º latitude - More
like Halifax, Nova Scotia. (Might not be an appreciable difference
there.)
