In his book, Imagined Communities, Benedict Anderson talks about the way that nations are socially constructed imaginary worlds, in spite of all their inconsistencies. ----guy named
  john Freeman.

The world is the way it is and it is the best of all possible worlds'-------Dr. Pangloss in Candide....

A witty psychologist, who has written Stumbling on Happiness, does a nice riff on THE SENTENCE that all ambitious Psychologists want to write---and get remembered forever for
when they turn out to be wrong, such as Man is THE ONLY language-using animal, etc.......

he offers his: Man is the only animal who can plan for a (distant) future.............................
because he is the only animal who can understand 'the future"........

Which reminds me of the Future in AtD..........(which is ALL F**ked UP to say almost nothing)................................ by humans, it seems, the only animals, etc.......
