Perhaps Darby, new lawyer of the independent Organization, seeing the deeper PR
reasons behind the shunning of Tesla..................and, like a lawyer, not anything contra
  what he sees?........

Is he a voice of pure Law?......

We've spoken of the Chums now as "independent contractors"; they no longer work for
  Whatever Power they used to...........................................

But do they 'contract' freely?...Or, are they able to act freely without pay now?

simply rent the receiving equipment out, like the phone
company did when it was a monopoly.
Put the meter on that.

now see, if Kit had of taken the
rightful position in the Vibe organization, he'd've been conversant
with both the technical and the financial issues...
would have easily come up with that or a better solution

Darby as smart-aleck?
and/or....Darby as liberal counterpoint to Lindsay's Puritan
within the Chums dynamic?
