Start in the middle ["In the Zone"] and circle back to where you started. 
The design of the book is a Mandala. To begin and end near Beltane
is easier than starting in a dream and ending waiting for the end.

Read what you can about William Pynchon. 
William Slothrop is William Pynchon.
I got me a copy of "The Meritorious Price of Our Redemption" 
and suggest that it is perhaps the key to all of Pynchon's work

I suggest listening to Spike Jones. that'll fix it.
