Of course, Schoenberg/Serialism/Death Of Music was the first 
thinind. Was it Pierrot Lunaire [1912] that first 
came to mind? Note as well:

During the summer of 1910, Schoenberg wrote his 
Harmonielehre (Theory of Harmony, Schoenberg 1922), 
which to this day remains one of the most influential 
music-theory books.
