Revolt of the Nihilists: TMoP-relevant, tangentially, metaphorically

I am not sending this to inject political opinion about the economic crisis---nor about
anything. I am sending it because TMoP and one of its literary fountainheds, The Possesssed is about the first group in history called Nihilists....................
 
and here Mr. Brooks uses the word as a risky, fierce metaphor..........
