D. sees Anna as in a pornographic postcard he once had. Reinforcing his
knowledge and the linking with a transgression, a sin in D. (and Dostoevsky's) mind.
"if he were more confident of his French he would channel this distrubing excitement into a book of the kind one cannot publish in Russia".....
"a book of the night, in which every excess would be represented and no bounds respected.".....Cf. somebody in THE DEMONS...
Cf. Ivan K's [If God does not exist], everything would be permitted.
For D., his mental sexual transgression...leads there in a novel!
Anyone, anyone???
