ATD: unanswered questions

I have many, but one in particular-

I may have missed it in my lackluster lurking, but it's
bugging me. I know the received wisdom, per the
Wiki, claims that the genealogy of Frenesi passes via
Jesse thru Reef and Stray, but there's something
about Frenesi that reminds of Lake. First of all, the
encounter with Lew- that initial discussion thru
her screen door- reminds me alot of Frenesi's
encounter with the U.S. Marshal in Vineland,
delivering the "stipend check."

cf., p. 85 Vineland (Penguin) "Well we haven't
              seen, uhm," consulting some leather-
              covered field book, Fletcher, either."
and,
     p.1051 "Lew pretended to look in his day book"


The two scenes totally resonate- many tendrils
of connection. But secondly, the nagging question:
Is Lake pregnant- I'm assuming by Lew- by the
time we see her last? (P.1057) Is it just a dream?
