Master of Petersburg - Group Read

Hi there Tim -

I was originally hoping to start this weekend, but an number of active listers requested more time to prepare, so the beginning was delayed until 15 September. There was also some discussion/back-and-forth about pacing: I'd planned for us to get through the book in about month, but my proposal of four chapters every five days was too fast for some listers. We hadn't really resolved this. We also need (at least) two more hosts - or more if several other listers would like to participate as moderators. Right now we have myself, Bekah and Lawrence - plus some folks who have expressed interest.

Here's a suggestion:

We start Monday 15th Sept and we go at a clips of four chapters (about 50 pages) a week, or roughly 7-8 pages a day. That means with a week at the end for general discussion we would wraped up around the 26th of October, and could launch into the next Pynchon in November sometime.

While we're on this subject: I have to say I'm confused about what was decided for the next Pynchon. I had believed V or Vineland were both on the radar (V was my personal preference) but someone had recently indicated that it was definitely Vineland - which I had thought the group had read more recently than V.....

In any case, I'd appreciate any feedback the list could give on this most recent proposed Coetzee schedule. And I'd like to hear from anyone who'd like to host a TMoP session. Oh, and one last thing: the definitive current paperback editions of TMoP seem to be the Penguin volume in the US and the Vintage volume in the UK. - both are 256pgs and I assume have identical text and pagination, though I haven't compared them:

Can someone please post the reading/hosting schedule again? I'd like
to follow along with the reading, but I'm not sure when it begins or what the
pacing will be.

Thanks!
