Never fails. I send a brief, informative post, and what do I hear back? Crickets. Anyway, you're dead right, John. Moses Wine, played by shortish, blondish Richard Dreyfuss, is the hero of The Big Fix. Has no one seen this lost classic?
Enjoy,
David

I'm here for you, John! Not sure about stoned all the way through, but for my money IV recalls a decent book and even better movie every bit as much as much as it does Chandler, Macdonald or Cain: Roger Simon's The Big Fix. Know it? The monologue at the end from a young F. Murray Abraham stacks up favorably in memory against anything in The Big Lebowski...

Any other examples in the genre, of a detective who's under the
influence of marijuana all the way through the novel as seems to be
the case with Doc?
